By-election 2017: Brisk start to by-election in St Mary S E
ST MARY, Jamaica — Voting in the crucial by-election for the South East St Mary constituency started briskly from 7:00 am this morning when polls opened. The Jamaica Labour Party’s Dr Norman Dunn and the People’s National Party’s Dr Shane Alexis are vying for the seat which became vacant following the death of sitting Member of Parliament Dr Winston Green.
Approximately 25,200 voters are listed on the voter’s list.
Voters in Annotto Bay were especially early to dip their fingers in voter’s ink. Apart from Annotto Bay there are three other major divisions in the constituency; Richmond, Castleton and Belfield
Polls close at 5:00 pm.
Two other by-elections will take place today in St Andrew South and St Andrew South West where PNP’s Mark Golding and Dr Angella Brown Burke will face the JLP’s Dane Dennis and Victor Hyde.
