Ballot counting underway in St Mary SE
ST MARY, Jamaica — The counting of ballots is now underway at the St Theresa Catholic Church in Annotto Bay to determine the next member of Parliament for St Mary South Eastern.
The ballot counting started shortly after 5:00 pm this afternoon and ballot boxes are steadily rolling in.
A frenzy of both Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and the People’s National Party (PNP) supporters has lined the streets in front the church blowing horns, beating pots and pans and shouting support for their candidate.
PNPs Shane Alexis and JLPs Norman Dunn are in a heated battle for the constituency’s seat, which has reported a voter turnout of 52 per cent.
