Chozenn drops album
SCORES of patrons flocked the National Arena in St Andrew to witness the launch of gospel artiste Chozenn’s debut album Unashamed, recently.
Despite a late start, patrons enjoyed the music of Lucas Musiq, Pastor Isaiah Raymond, Sandra Brooks, Jai Kingston, Jermaine Gordon, Rondell Positive, and the man of the evening — Chozenn.
At midnight, patrons began to get restless when Nigerian act Sinach had not yet taken the stage. He did eventually perform.
“Sinach saved the night for me. I sat and tried my best to enjoy each performance equally, with the same amount of energy, and just block out the distractions. I loved how the place was set up, and of course some sets like Rondell, Jai Kingston, Sandra Brooks and Jermaine Gordon and Chozenn’s set was really good and of course, Sinach,” said patron Shelly-Ann Green.
Samantha Brown was a bit annoyed with the late showing.
“This event is too long now. It was never a good idea to have all these artistes, Sinach, plus the album launch. Then it is so obvious that they were now buying time with the DJ entertaining the crowd while we wait on Sinach. Yes, it’s Chozenn’s album launch but the guest performer is who I travel from Portland to come see, no offence. Now because I was waiting with anticipation when she came on the ministry was good and I enjoyed it, but I wasn’t as excited as I was coming here. However, she did a good job in closing and redeemed the entire thing,” said Brown.
The album comes two years after his January 2015 debut EP, Rebirth, and comprises 14 tracks, featuring collaborations with Jamaican gospel artistes Lucas Musiq and Pastor Joseph Emanuel. In the track, No Stone, Chozenn also recorded one verse in Swahili.
