Lennon seek to build on advantage
Ben Francis Cup Knockout holders Lennon High will seek to join nine other schools in the quarter-final stage of the ISSA/FLOW daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition when they take a 2-1 lead into today’s lone second-round return-leg game against Port Antonio High.
Kick-off is set for 3:00 pm at Juici Field.
Lennon High won Saturday’s first leg 2-1 at Lynch Park, and a draw today would be enough to see them advance to the final 16.
Kwesi Watts scored both goals for Lennon High on Saturday and is expected to lead the charge again. They will be without Leonardo Jibbison, who was ejected after picking up two yellow cards.
Six more second-round second-leg games will be played tomorrow to complete the list of teams in the quarter-final stage.
Brown’s Town hold a surprise 1-0 lead over Rusea’s High after Saturday’s upset win at Montego Bay Sports Complex, while Central High lead Petersfield 2-0. St James High are 4-0 leaders over Mile Gully, while Alston High and Little London are tied 1-1 entering the second leg.
Defending champions Cornwall College led the early qualifiers after beating Morant Bay High 12-1 on aggregate after inflicting an 8-0 thrashing on Saturday.
Glenmuir High, Clarendon College, St Elizabeth Technical, Frome Technical, Holmwood Technical, Manchester High and St Mary Technical are also through to the quarter-final round set to start on Saturday.
