Grace Jones’ mother passes
The mother of Jamaican-born entertainer and model Grace Jones has died.
The New York Daily News reports that Marjorie Jones, mother of the former Bond Girl, died on Monday, October 2 at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in the United States.
The article further stated that Jones, who released the song Mother’s Tears in 2008, kept a bedside vigil with her mother in Los Angeles after Marjorie had a massive stroke in mid-September.
Marjorie was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, but moved to New York City when her daughter hit the big time and secured a record deal with Island Records in 1977.
In her later years. Marjorie lived in Syracuse, New York, where she worked with the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. She and her husband led backyard revivals in the 1970s that developed into the City Wide Crusade in Syracuse and other cities, drawing thousands of people.
In addition to Grace, she is survived by sons Randolph, Chris, Maxwell and Cor, as well as daughters Janet, Ruth and Pamela.
