Two rescheduled games on today
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Belair High have the opportunity to take over third place in Zone F of the ISSA/FLOW daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition today when they play DeCarteret College in a rescheduled first-round game in Mandeville.
Another rescheduled game will be played today as Knockalva Technical host Cambridge High in a Zone B return-round rescheduled game in Ramble, Hanover.
The games will kick off a week of what is expected to be a lot of hard-fought games as teams race to confirm second-round places as the first round comes to an end.
Four schools have already confirmed second-round qualification, with Manchester High in Zone F, Dinthill Technical in Zone K and Glenmuir High in Zone M having won their zones with games to spare, while Port Antonio High, who drew 1-1 with Titchfield High on Saturday in a game that started at 7:00 pm, are certain to advance from Zone L, even as a second-place team.
Twenty-four games are set to be played tomorrow.
Today Belair High have a slim chance of advancing, but must win all their remaining games while hoping second-placed Mile Gully will not earn another point.
Belair are currently on eight points from their seven games, two behind third-placed Cross Keys High, while DeCarteret are at the foot of the table on one point.
In Zone B, both teams will be playing for pride as they are out of the running for one of the top two places, but Knockalva Technical, who are on seven points, one spot and three points ahead of Cambridge, will be seeking to avenge a first-round loss at Cambridge High.
