MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Manchester High and Seaforth High became the first teams to win their first four games in the ISSA/FLOW daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition, after scoring 4-0 victories yesterday.

Manchester High blanked Cross Keys in their Zone F game played at Manchester High, while Seaforth High extended their best-ever start after turning back Robert Lightbourne High.

Edwin Allen High’s quest for a third-straight win in Zone H was held up as their game against Lennon High was postponed due to an outbreak of viral conjunctivitis (pink eye) in the Edwin Allen camp.

Marlando Maxwell scored twice for Manchester High, while Okeem Powell and Larry Maitland also got on the scoresheet as Manchester extended their lead in Zone F over Mile Gully, who were held 1-1 by Belair High.

Andrew Harris also scored a double to lead Seaforth High as they kept up the pressure in Zone O, as second-placed Morant Bay High beat St Thomas Technical 2-1 and third-placed Paul Bogle beat Yallahs 3-1.

St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) rebounded from their 0-0 draw against Munro College to beat neighbours Lacovia High 2-1 and stay on top of Zone E.

Munro College were also winners, edging Newell High 2-1 to move into second place past Maggotty, who lost 0-2 to B B Coke and slipped to third place.

The close race continued in Zone B with the top three teams separated by two points all winning. Rusea’s High beat Knockalva Technical 4-1 in Ramble, Frome Technical scored twice in the second half to turn back Hopewell High on a waterlogged field at Kenilworth, while Marlando Johnson scored a hat-trick and Denford Vassell scored two for Green Island as they hammered Cambridge 6-0.

Central High assumed the leadership of Zone N after beating Old Harbour High 3-0 to move to nine points, two more than previous leaders Vere Technical, who were held 0-0 by Garvey Maceo, while Kemps Hill High scored their first win of the season, beating Bustamante High 3-0.

The Zone D top-of-the-table clash between Petersfield High and Little London fizzled to a 0-0 draw, while Godfrey Stewart High and Manning’s School also shared points in a 1-1 draw.

Grange Hill High were the only winners in Zone D, thrashing Black River 3-0 for their first win of the season.

Zenard Street scored three times for Thompson Town as they celebrated their first win of the season with a 6-0 thrashing of hapless Claude McKay, who have now conceded 23 goals and are yet to score their first.
