Technician dies in bike crash
JEROME Cooke, a 23-year-old technician of Trench Town, Kingston 12, died as a result of injuries received in a motorcycle crash on Collie Smith Drive in Kingston 14, last Thursday.
Police reported that Cooke, about 10:25 pm, was driving his motorcycle when he lost control and collided with a utility pole. He was assisted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The police yesterday advised motorcyclists and their pillions that wearing a helmet is a requirement for operation on all Jamaican roadways. Additionally, it said the Traffic Department was taking a zero-tolerance approach to motorists who do not comply, in an effort to reduce road carnage.
