Burglar drops firearm, flees after confrontation with homeowner
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The Spanish Town police are investigating an incident in which a would-be victim reportedly disarmed a burglar at New Nursery in St Catherine yesterday and handed over the firearm to lawmen.
Reports are that about 10:40 pm a joint police/military team responded to a call from a resident of the community. Upon their arrival a .38 revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition was handed over to the team. It was reported that a burglar, who had used a stone to break a window to the house, dropped the firearm and fled when the homeowner confronted him with a machete.
Detectives have since located a man who fits the description of the suspect after he turned up at hospital with chop wounds, the police say.
