UPDATE: 10 arrested in connection with Cambridge gun seizure
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The police are reporting that 10 people have been taken into custody following the seizure of five guns in Cambridge, St James this morning.
According to initial reports from the police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), a M16, two shotguns and two 9mm pistols and several rounds of ammunition were seized.
The police have since stated that 215 rounds of ammunition, six cellphones, a laptop and 76 lead sheets with lottery scamming identity information for individuals living overseas were also found on the scene.
The seizure comes after lawmen in another part of the parish called Salt Spring found 29 rounds of ammunition in the roof of an unoccupied board and zinc structure Tuesday evening.
CCU reported that a joint team was on operation in the area when they searched the structure and recovered the items.
No one was arrested in connection with that find.
