HOLLAND, Trelawny – Spot Valley High will go after back-to-back wins this afternoon when they travel to Holland High in Trelawny in one of three games scheduled in Zone C of the ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup schoolboys football competition.

The St James-based team are the leaders in the zone after edging Muschett High 1-0 on Tuesday while the other two games ended in draws.

Herbert Morrison Technical, who finished with nine players after two were sent off in the second half, came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Holland High, while William Knibb Memorial and Cedric Titus shared four goals in a 2-2 draw.

Spot Valley have been the class team of Zone C the last two years, and advanced past the first round the last two seasons, making it to the quarterfinals last year.

Today they will start favourites against a young Holland High team that just missed taking all three points at Herbert Morrison, as they seek to establish a firm grasp on the leadership of the group.

Despite being away from home, William Knibb should start favourites against Muschett, while Cedric Titus will enjoy home advantage against Herbert Morrison.

Herbert Morrison were wasteful in their opener on Tuesday against Holland and almost paid for it but for a late penalty conversion by national Under-17 player Richard Thompson.

They will however be without two players – Salano Birch who was sent off after being shown two yellow cards on Monday, as well as Marc-Dayne Graham, who spent a few minutes on the field before also being ordered off.

Herbert Morrison are yet to beat Cedric Titus, who moved from Zone I to Zone C last year, beating the Montego Bay school in their first game played in Trelawny, and drawing the away game.

Meanwhile, defending champions Cornwall College, as well as three others former winners, won their first games as the competition kicked off last weekend.

Cornwall beat Green Pond High 4-1 in the opening Zone A game at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, while St James High blanked a weakened Irwin High at Jarrett Park on Monday.

Rusea’s High started off the Coach Vassell Reynolds era on a high, with a 8-1 win over returning Hopewell High, while Frome Technical were 3-0 winners over Cambridge High.

Three players scored at least three goals in their opening games. Shavon McDonald led the Cornwall College scoring; Leonardo Fogarthy got three of Rusea’s goals, while Andre Cunningham scored all of Frome Technical’s goals against Cambridge.
