Palmer shines at National Cycling Championships
Cycling champion Dahlia Palmer proved she’s lost nothing in the three years she’s been away from Jamaica.
Palmer took gold and two silver medals at this past weekend’s National Cycling Championships held during intermittent rain at National Stadium Velodrome in Kingston.
Her accomplishments are more notable as Palmer was competing solely against men as there were no other women competing at the event.
Palmer took first place in the 500m sprint where she set the fastest time of the meet for the event. She took second place in both match sprint and kerin events, where she finished only behind Jamaican Olympic cycling hopeful Marloe Rodman. In the flying 200m sprint Palmer placed fifth of 13 entrants.
Palmer is looking towards the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia as her next international competition. In the meantime, she will be returning to Trinidad to further her training and will continue to compete in Caribbean cycling events.
