PM urges continued support for ZOSO
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness today called on law abiding Jamaicans to stand with the security forces in pursuit of criminal activities.
Holness asked Jamaicans to embrace the zones of special operations (ZOSO) initiative “and own their responsibilities as stakeholders in this country”.
He said that though the initiative is early in implementation, the signs for peace and transformation in Mount Salem, St James are positive.
“This is the first step and it will yield tremendous benefits for Jamaica and all Jamaicans,” he said.
Leader of the Opposition, Dr Peter Phillips, responded that in terms of the operation, it was “so far, so good”.
However, he cautioned that the Opposition would continue to protect the rights of the people.
Phillips added that his main concern was the need for a more effective response to crime.
