Trainer Harry Jaghai – a winner
Long-time trainer Harry Jaghai, who has been battling illness in recent times, showed that he is still able to produce winners.
On Saturday, Jaghai scored with the Houston Stablesowned three-year-old chestnut colt, Regal Prospector (Ameth Robles) in a maiden three-yearold event over eight furlongs (1,600m).
Running for only the third time in his career, Regal Prospector (Cowtown Cat – Regal Sen) watched proceedings close to the leaders before Robles made his move at the top of the straight.
Regal Prospector, running green, swerving to his right in the last furlong, had to survive the late surge of outsider Mighty Crown (Andre Powell), and at one stage it appeared that Mighty Crown had actually gained the lead, but Robles was able to get a final surge from his mount, who held on for a shorthead victory.
Mighty Crown was second, with Trini Magic third. The winning time was 1:43.3. This was the second win this season for trainer Jaghai.
