Funeral for PNP MP set for Saturday
FORMER Member of Parliament for St Mary South Eastern Dr Winston Lloyd Green will be buried on Saturday, September 2, in St Catherine.
Dr Green, who had represented the constituency for the People’s National Party (PNP) since December 2011, died on Monday, August 14 in hospital, after collapsing at his home in Kingston. He was 58.
A thanksgiving service will be held on Saturday at the St Andrew Parish Church, starting at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Meadowrest Memorial Gardens, St Catherine.
Green, a dentist trained in Cuba in the 1980s, was born in south-eastern St Andrew. He served as a member of both the Public Administration and Appropriations and Internal and External Affairs committees of the House of Representatives.
Both Prime Minister Andrew Holness and the PNP expressed “shock” at his sudden death.
His passing has created a third void in the House of Representatives, following the resignation of Opposition MPs Portia Simpson Miller and Dr Omar Davies, to be filled by by-elections to be called by Holness.
