Howls of laughter, oohs and aahs as Suarez Brothers Circus delights
The opening night of the Suarez Brothers Circus at the National Stadium in Kingston was not sold out, but the hundreds who came to enjoy the show were not disappointed.
The comedy skits involving the audience elicited howls of laughter and eager applause.
Not to be outdone though were cute little canines who, with their smile-inducing tricks, also held the audience’s interest. A handful of trapeze acts were interspersed with magic tricks, and other acts that delighted. The two-and-a-half-hour show was pleasantly entertaining for the most part and patrons welcomed ensuing acts with appreciative oohs and aahas.
For one parent, Trisha, it was an evening well spent as this was the third time she had visited the Suarez Circus with her daughter Mishka, who gushed: “I loved the clown and the robot.”
Another patron, Nathan, said he and his family also enjoyed the show but would have liked to see the inclusion of other more intriguing animals. “It was good still. I was just expecting to see a little more. When you hear circus you think lion and tiger as a part of the show. But is a good family evening and I would come again,” he said.
The Suarez Brothers Circus, which has been coming to Jamaica since the 1980s, also played to large audiences in the resort town of Ocho Rios before coming to Kingston.
Promising a great family show as a gift to Jamaicans who wanted to attend the Kingston opening night, Ivan and Raul Suarez offered 500 children tickets to Jamaica Observer readers who participated in a ‘Colour the Clown’ contest, which started last Tuesday.
The Suarez Brothers Circus has been brought back to Jamaica by acclaimed show promoter Sharon Burke and nephew Marlon Burke.
Their company, Chebronx Ltd, is responsible for promoting the show which will play in major towns across the island until December.
