KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two men were arrested and charged following the seizure of three firearms and several rounds of ammunition in separate sections of the island yesterday.
Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are Odean Lemond otherwise called Christopher from Kingston and Shavon Taylor from St James, both 25 years old.
According to police reports, the first firearm was seized about 2:00 pm in the Friendship Pen area of Morant Bay in St Thomas, where residents reported seeing strange men in the area.
During a search for the men, the lawmen reportedly found a Smith and Wesson Parabellum 9mm pistol containing two 9mm rounds of ammunition in bushes. However, no one was arrested in connection with this seizure.
The second incident happened in the St Andrew South Division about 5:30 pm when a 9mm Browning pistol fitted with a magazine containing nine 9mm rounds of ammunition was reportedly found.

He was accosted, searched and the firearm taken from him.
The third seizure, police said, occurred during an operation in Salter’s Hill, St James about 7:00 pm. They were on mobile patrol in the area when the second accused, Taylor, was seen riding a motorcycle along the roadway.
He was accosted and searched and a Jimenez ARMS pistol containing a magazine with two live 9mm cartridges was reportedly taken from him.
