Several Caribbean islands rattled by two earthquakes
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) — Two earthquakes, including one with a magnitude of 4.4, rattled several Caribbean islands on Friday, but there were no immediate reports of damage, injuries or loss of lives.
The Trinidad-based Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies, (UWI), said the first quake occurred at 5.29 am (local time) and was situated south west of Dominica.
“It was located at 14.93N and 61.56°W with a magnitude of 3.7 and depth of 178km,” the SRC said.
It noted that the second quake, with a magnitude of 4.4, occurred at 1.05 pm (local time) and was located Latitude11.28N; Longitude: 62.14W at a depth of 96 kilometres .
