High Command probing ‘frustrated police’ video now in circulation
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Police High Command says it has commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the conduct of members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) seen in a video being circulated on social media.
The video, which has received widespread attention, shows a frustrated policewoman in uniform at a police station packing up paraphernalia while saying that she is going to the Commissioner’s office to report the matter.
“Mi a go straight a de commissioner office, me a go call Mr Quallo now. Why you no stop dweet? said the disgruntled cop.
“Mi waa know wha kinda authority you have why yu a behave so, and abuse you officer,” she questioned her adversary, apparently another female cop, before going into a two-minute long tirade.
“Weh me do?” she asked repeatedly on the verge of tears.
The JCF High Command, in a statement this afternoon, said that it is aware of the impact that the video may have on the image and morale of its members and is seeking to assure the public that a high standard of professional conduct is the measure of the force.
“Any act that will impair our image of public relation and interaction will not be countenanced positively. The JCF seeks at all time to empower its member and boost their morale in order that they might give high quality service to our publics,” the High Command statement said.
“Furthermore, the High Command encourages members of the organisation to access counselling services through the Medical Services and the Chaplaincy Services Branch, should they require same.
Additionally, peer counsellors and volunteer chaplains are available at all police stations,” the statement added.
