GCT returns for July due next week – TAJ
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising business people that General Consumption tax (GCT) returns for July are due on Thursday, August 31.
According to an advisory from the administration today, medium taxpayers are being reminded that they must file their returns using the TAJ online portal at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm, as online filing for this category of taxpayer is mandatory.
The TAJ said business operators can utilise the convenience of the Saturday opening, to avoid the last minute rush to file their returns ahead of the due date, or conduct any other usual weekday transaction with the exception of compliance and audit services.
TAJ said it will operate the following offices between the hours of 10:00 am to 2:00 pm this Saturday:
• Constant Spring
• Montego Bay
• Spanish Town
• May Pen
• Mandeville
• Savanna-la-mar
• St Ann’s Bay
The administration informed that the Portmore Tax Office will continue its regular Saturday opening time of 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Additionally, TAJ said motorists paying traffic tickets may make online payments via the TAJ portal at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm.
Taxpayers are reminded that they must have either the ticket number or the traffic ticket itself to facilitate easy payment.
In addition to the opening this Saturday, people may opt to do business on Saturday September 30 and on the last two Saturdays of the Amnesty, October 21 and 28.
Individuals seeking support to make queries about any outstanding tickets are directed to contact the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Call Centre at 948-0411 Mondays to Thursdays (8:30 am — 5:00 pm) and Fridays (8:30 am — 4:00 pm) and any scheduled Saturday opening date.
