BITU withdraws strike notice served on UDC
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU) says it has withdrawn its 72-hour strike notice served on the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) on Tuesday.
The withdrawal, according to the BITU, is as a result of a meeting at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, between both parties this morning at the ministry’s North Street office.
BITU said the original ultimatum resulted from a failure to complete current wage and fringe benefits negotiations between them and the UDC from 2015-2017.
The parties will meet again on August 25 at the ministry to continue discussions on the wage negotiations.
