#TrendyThursdays: The Gingham Print
WHAT I found absolutely hilarious about the gingham print becoming a fashion trend this spring, was that I used to wear this very same print as my prep school uniform—now I can’t even afford to.
Anything made in this print usually starts from US$30 and goes up to as much as US$1000.
With fabric prints becoming popular, we find that they’re usually paired with the other runway trends of that time such as asymmetrical cuts and deconstructed designs.
Spotted first on the SS17 runway we saw Peter Jensen pairing his gingham designs with towering hats; giving way to the garden-like aesthetics of the British scene. Prada on the other hand, glammed up this print introducing fur hemlines and unconventionally conventional colour mixtures.
In everyday life, gingham is mostly seen styled with denim pants. This print also works well with graphic tees, leather garments and woven accessories. The picnic look of spring has definitely stayed with us and it doesn’t look like we’ll be letting go of the gingham print anytime soon.
