US Embassy, Gov’t collaborate on training to tackle organised crime
ST JAMES, Jamaica—The US embassy and the Government of Jamaica have collaborated on hosting a three-day training seminar on Intellectual Property Rights as the authorities seek to better tackle organised crime in the country.
The training, which takes place from July 25 to 27 in Montego Bay, St James, will focus on the organised crime aspects of Intellectual Property Rights offences, which will include case studies on counterfeit cell phones, cigarettes, pharmaceuticals and other consumer goods.
Criminal investigators from the US Department of Homeland Security along with trade industry representatives will lead the training exercise.
The goal of the program is to provide participants with relevant information and best practices for effective enforcement of intellectual property laws.
