MIND to award local and regional public sector leaders
KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) — The Management Institute for National Development (MIND) will recognise an outstanding local and regional civil servant at its annual public sector leadership conference.
The event will be held from July 19-20 at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.
Business Development and Communications Director at MIND, Marlene Campbell, told JIS News that the Public Life Award for Leadership Excellence will be presented to public servants, who have demonstrated excellence in achieving results; reflect the priorities of the public service; and promote professionalism and visibility of the service while demonstrating other key competencies.
She informed that the MIND Public Life Award for Leadership Excellence was launched in 2013.
“MIND decided that in addition to developing leaders, we want to celebrate and recognise excellence as we believe in meritocracy. You work hard, and cause transformation to happen, so we want to identify your good practices, and leadership excellence,” she pointed out.
A regional leader was first recognised at last year’s leadership conference.
Winners are usually nominated by a committee after thorough research on the achievements of the individuals.
Campbell told JIS News this year’s leadership conference will celebrate public servants, who are considered to be adaptive leaders in keeping with the theme: ‘Adaptive Public Sector Leadership, Changing MINDsets, Challenging Assumptions, Creating Transformation’.
