World U-18 Champs: Gold, bronze for Jamaica in girls 100mH
NAIROBI, Kenya — Britany Anderson won Jamaica’s third gold medal of the 10th IAAF World Under-18 Championships at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya when she sped to victory in the girls 100m hurdles in a wind aided 12.72 seconds (4.1m/s).
It was gold and bronze for Jamaica as Daszay Freeman finished third in 13.09 seconds as France’s Cyrena Samba-Mayela took the silver in 12.80 seconds.
It was a clean sweep of the sprint hurdles for Jamaica as Dejour Russell had taken the boys 110m hurdles in a Championship record 13.04 seconds earlier.
Jamaica are on seven medals now, three gold, a silver and three bronze, and will seek another medal when they contest the mixed 4x400m relays later today.
