Knibbs leads Alliance Golf Classic with 67
On the first day of the Alliance Flights Classic, national team member William Knibbs had a remarkable first-round score of 67, five shots below par on the challenging Caymanas Golf Course.
Knibbs’ scorecard reflected nine pars, seven birdies, and two bogeys. Knibbs, who started with a bogey, recovered with a birdie and stuck to his game plan for the rest of the round. He is hopeful his form will continue into the second day’s play, and that he can execute as well as he did yesterday.
Four shots behind in the men’s 0-6 category is Jonathan Newnham, who recently competed in the BMW Jamaica Classic at Cinnamon Hill. Tommy Lee is currently in third with 76 shots, followed by Dr Mark Newnham and Robert Chin, who are tied on 79.
The leader of the men’s 7-12 category is Clifton Johnson (87). Bruce Lopez is currently second (89). Leading the 13-18 category is Brandon Chin, and in second is Cedric Blair. Paul Gray heads the 19+ category.
In the men’s super senior 0-12 group, Michael Boyd is in the lead with 75. Opeton Marshall, another national representative, ended the day in second on 81 shots. In third is Lincoln Williams (82).
The ladies competition saw Diane Hudson ending her round in first position in the 13-24 category with 91, followed by Yadires Fonseca.
