UPDATE: Broken main on Mandela Highway causes water lock-off in Washington Boulevard area
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The broken main along the Mandela Highway in St Catherine could cause residents along Washington Boulevard and surrounding areas to be deprived of water up until late Friday.
The National Water Commission (NWC) this afternoon reported that a major pipeline break on the 18-inch transmission main, has forced the shutdown of the company’s Molynes Road Booster Station in St Andrew.
This has resulted in customers supplied by the station presently without their regular water supply.
The affected areas include: Washington Boulevard and all roads leading off; Cooreville Gardens; sections of Patrick City and Duhaney Park.
NWC said as it mobilises its team to conduct an assessment of the damage and undertake emergency repairs, it is estimating that regular water supply will resume on or before Sunday.
