Unauthorised occupants of JRC properties in St James urged to regularise
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Residents in St James, who are currently occupying properties owned by the Jamaica Railway Corporation (JRC) without a lease arrangement, are being urged to regularise their occupancy.
The JRC, in a newspaper advertisement today, urged such individuals to contact their offices within the next 30 days and cautioned that it will be deemed necessary to take requisite action to recover its property if occupants fail to get regularised.
Meanwhile, the corporation advised that it does not have agents or representatives, other than members of its own staff, who are appointed or authorised to conduct transactions related to the letting/leasing of land, collection or rental or any other financial activity in relation to its properties.
It also noted that the sale of JRC lands can only be authorised or approved at the ministerial level.
The JRC appealed to members of the public, who may be uncertain as to whether they have undertaken any transaction other than through the authorised system, to immediately contact the JRC office at 142 Barry Street in Kingston by calling (876) 922-6433/922-7349, or write to the attention of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jamaica Railway Corporation, 142 Barry Street, PO box 489, Kingston or send an email to generalmanagerjrc@cwjamaica.com.
