JSIF to break ground for removal of zinc fences in Granville, St James
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) will break ground in Granville, St James this afternoon for the removal of zinc fences in the community.
According to JSIF, work will commence on the removal and substitution 500 metres of fencing along Cunningham Drive (200m); Browns Lane (200m), and Gunz Drive (100m) all in Granville, at a cost of $20,587,300.
The overall Zinc Fence Removal and Substitution project is being implemented through funding from the JSIF’s Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP), and is geared towards the upgrading of public spaces; by improving public safety for both residents and security officials, and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of communities.
Approximately $260 million has been allocated for the project, which will see removal of zinc fences in eleven communities across six parishes.
