Kaliese Spencer found not guilty in anti-doping case
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Independent Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (IADDP), a short while ago, announced its decision in the case of 400 metre hurdler Kaliese Spencer and the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO).
Spencer, by a unanimous panel decision, was found not guilty after JADCO alleged that she violated article 2.3 of the JADCO rules that, in effect, says she refused to give a sample when requested by a JADCO collections officer last year.
IADDP Chairman Kent Gammon stated that based on the evidence presented by JADCO, they were not persuaded of a breach in article 2.3 in particular. He also noted that the deciding factor was the equivocation that the athlete was properly notified as to the anti-doping violation and the non-compliance with article 5.0 of the international testing standards of World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The hearing took place at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston.
