UPDATE: Police seeking info on shooting of PNP councillor, murder of assistant
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The police say they are “working assiduously” to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the shooting of People’s National Party (PNP) councillor Karl Blake and the murder of his assistant.
The Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force reported that the deceased assistant has been identified as 52-year-old Maxine Simpson, a social worker of a Meadowbrook Estate address in St Andrew.Reports are that about 8:30 pm, Simpson and Blake were sitting outside the community centre in Caribbean Palms when armed men came on the premises and opened fire hitting them. The police were summoned and the victims were taken to hospital where Simpson was pronounced dead and Blake admitted in stable condition.Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Hunts Bay Police at 923-6197 or 923-7111, Crime Stop at 311 or 811, Police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
