Thompson, McCorory, Francis out of Racers’ Grand Prix
KINGSTON, Jamaica – OBSERVER ONLINE has just been informed that three athletes who were scheduled to participate in the Racers Grand Prix on Saturday next at the National Stadium have withdrawn from the meet.
The athletes are Olympic 100 and 200 metres champion, Elaine Thompson, American 400m runner, Francena McCorory and 400m runner, Javon Francis.It is understood that McCorory is recovering from a motor vehicle accident, while Francis received an injury recently.The Racers Grand Prix this year honours track and field world icon Usain Bolt who will be running his last competitive race on local soil. The meet is dubbed ‘Salute To A Legend’.Other major world stars who will be participating include David Rudisha of Kenya, Sir Mo Farah of Great Britain, Wayde van Niekerk of South Africa, and Sally Pearson of Australia among many others.
