Curfew imposed in sections of Mount Salem, St James
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The police are reporting that a curfew has been imposed in sections of Mount Salem, St James.
The curfew, a police release said this morning, began at 7:00 pm, yesterday and will remain in effect until 6:00 pm, tomorrow. It is aimed at restoring “law and order in the Mount Salem Police area, which has been experiencing extreme lawlessness and has caused a major strain on the deployment of police and military personnel,” the police said.
The boundaries of the curfew are as follows:
Location
North: Along Mt Salem Main road from Peddlers Lane to Piggott Street.
East: Along Piggott Street from Mount Salem main road to Bottom Piggott Street
South: Along an imaginary line from bottom Street to Jarrett Terrace.
West: Along Peddlers from Jarrett Terrace to Mount Salem main road.
During the hours of the curfew, all the persons within the boundaries are required to remain within their premises unless otherwise authorised in writing by the member of security forces who are in charge of enforcing the curfew.
