Curfew imposed after triple murder on Jones Avenue in Spanish Town
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A curfew has been imposed in a section of the St Catherine North Police Division, beginning at 6:00 pm today. It will remain in effect until 6:00 pm tomorrow.
The police said the boundaries of the curfew are as follows:North: Along Twickenham Park main road, from the intersection with Burke Road, to a football field at the eastern boundary.East: Along an imaginary line, about 300 metres from the football field, to the FIDCO factory.South: Along an imaginary line running parallel to the Spanish Town Bypass, about 400 meters from the FIDCO factory to the bank of the Rio Cobre.West: Along the bank of the Rio Cobre about 350 meters from the southern boundary to the intersection with Burke Road.Police added that during the hours of the curfew, all the persons within the boundaries are required to remain within their premises unless otherwise authorised in writing by the member of security forces who is in charge of enforcing the curfews.The boundaries encompass Jones Avenue, where three people, including a female and a juvenile, were murdered Monday night.Dead are: 43-year-old Yvette Bailey and her two sons 24-year-old Mario Burkette, otherwise called Rocky, and 14-year-old Travis Labbon.According to reports from the Spanish Town CIB, residents heard explosions and called the police. Upon the arrival of the lawmen, Labbon, Bailey and Burkette were seen at their home with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.A woman, who was sustained injuries during the attack, was taken to hospital where she was treated and released.
