Late principal of deCarteret College remembered as exceptional educator
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Millard Clive McLeod who died on Sunday after serving as principal at deCarteret College here for 21 years is being remembered as an exceptional educator and leader.
“He inspired young people and he inspired his staff, he was also a visionary and a builder in terms of the physical plant and also in terms of the school curriculum,” said vice principal, Angela Walker when contacted by telephone Monday afternoon.McLeod, who would have been 59 later this month, died at his home minutes after 5:00pm on Sunday, having been seriously ill since February.Walker told OBSERVER ONLINE that McLeod established an enviable reputation “as an excellent teacher of Mathematics and was widely recognised for his work at that level”.Having first entered the profession as a pre-trained teacher 40 years ago, McLeod moved up the ladder to become vice principal at Vere Technical High and a lecturer at Church Teachers College before taking the reins of principal at deCarteret College.Garfield Myers
