Raymond Pryce leads initiative to improve PNP’s relationship with the youth
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former Deputy General Secretary of the People’s National Party (PNP) Raymond Pryce has reportedly been tasked with improving the party’s relationship with the youth.
A tweet from @JamaicaPNP, the official account of the nation’s opposition party, yesterday said that Pryce “has been asked to lead a specific initiative to improve relationship between the party and Jamaica’s youth.”
Pryce, a former North Eastern St Elizabeth Member of Parliament, was a rising star in the party under the leadership of Portia Simpson Miller before Evon Redman was chosen to be the party’s standard-bearer in the constituency for the 2016 General Elections.
Pryce subsequently resigned from the post of deputy general secretary and the party officer corps in a letter to Simpson Miller, citing “significant strain and concern … as Member of Parliament and as an officer of the party”.
He will now reportedly be charged with improving the relationship of the party now led by Dr Peter Phillips with youth, who were thought to be a major constituent of the Jamaica Labour Party’s victory in last year’s elections.
