Seprod to take water from Negro River, St Thomas
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Water Resources Authority (WRA) on Monday approved an application from Seprod/Serge Island to abstract 2500 mc3/day of water from the Negro River in Danvers Pen, St Thomas.
A statement from the Authority Friday said that it took into consideration the concerns of residents of Seaforth and adjoining communities as expressed in the media and through their political representatives.According to the WRA concerns of the residents were based on a faulty premise, as they were of the view that Seprod/Serge Island had applied for a license to abstract water from the Johnson River. The WRA said it wished to assure the residents of Seaforth and adjoining communities that the granting of this licence will not adversely impact their ability to access water for domestic use from neither the Johnson River nor the Negro River.
