CONCACAF U-17 Championship: 10-man Jamaica defeat El Salvador 3-1 to revive campaign
PANAMA CITY, Panama — Ten-man Jamaica breathed new life in their flagging campaign when they defeated El Salvador 3-1 in their crucial Group C CONCACAF Under-17 Championship game at the Estadio Maracana on Wednesday.
Kaheem Parris scored a double in the 83rd (penalty) and 90th minutes to spur the Young Reggae Boyz.Ricardo McIntosh had opened the scoring in the 17th minute. El Salvador’s goal was scored from the penalty spot by Ronaldo Cerritos.Jamaica defender Calwayne Allen was given his marching orders after being shown the yellow card a second time in the 63rd minute. The victory gives Jamaica three points and hopes of progressing, but that prospect will only be tested in the final match against Mexico on Saturday.In the feature of Wednesday’s double-header, unbeaten USA and Mexico were due to do battle.
