#SectoralDebate: Paulwell to make financial returns public
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Leader of Opposition Business in the House of Representatives Phillip Paulwell says he will be making his financial returns public in the coming week.
Paulwell, during his sectoral debate contribution this afternoon, said that he had written to the Integrity Commission to ask that his returns since he entered Parliament in 1995 be provide for public disclosure. The member of Parliament for East Kingston said that he was making the move in good faith and in anticipation of the amendment to the Integrity Commission Act to make mandatory public disclosure of the returns of the prime minister, the leader of Opposition and the finance minister, which was announced by Andrew Holness in Parliament recently. The information, he noted, would be made available to the public on a website and will only redact the names of beneficiaries and personal account numbers.Paulwell recommended that the leaders of Opposition and Government business in Parliament also be required to make their returns public.
