Doctor warns that ‘fluffy’ bodies not healthy
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dr Suzanne Arscott, one of the presenters at the Jamaica Observer Your Health, Your Wealth Symposium currently taking place at the Spanish Court Hotel, is reminding Jamaicans that despite the culture of liking ‘fluffy’ women and big bodied men, such body types are not healthy.
“If your weight is disproportionate to your height it’s problematic. If you’re fluffy, the fat cells have a lot of oestrogen that can cause breast cancer. We’re not asking you to win a beauty contest or wear a size 6, but you should not be wearing a size 18,” she said.Free health checks such as hypertension, disabetes and cholesteral are being offered on location. Health professionals are also conducting oral cancer screening and pap smears.Kimberley Hibbert
