Wolmer’s, Montego Bay capture D-1 tennis titles
WOLMER’S Boys’ and Montego High captured the 2017 Tennis Jamaica/Hi-Lyte High Schools Team Championships boys’ and girls’ Division One titles at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Division Two boys’ and girls’ team titles were won by Ardenne High and Mount Alvernia High, respectively.
Over 150 boys and girls from 17 schools participated in the three-day team championships.
The most valuable player (MVP) for Division One boys’ went to Hillel Academy’s John Azar Jnr as he won all his matches, while Sheada Nickle of Montego Bay High was the MVP for the girls section.
Russell Fairman of Ardenne High won the MVP boys’ section in the Division Two, while Camille Pusey took the girls’ award.
In Division One boys’ action, Wolmer’s defeated Hillel Academy 5-0, while Montego Bay High beat Campion College 3-2 in girls’ play.
In Division Two, Ardenne High won all three matches to take the boys crown, while Mount Alvernia High captured the girls’ prize, winning their matches.
