Three arrested after theft, slaughter of medicated animals
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — The public is being warned to exercise caution when purchasing goat meat and pork following this morning’s slaughter of four stolen goats and a pig, which the Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit (PLPU) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said were earlier medicated.
The unit said three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to reports, the Westmoreland Agro Enforcement team assisted by the Westmoreland Operation Support Unit went in search of stolen animals in Hatfield district, Savanna-la-mar around 9:30 am this morning.
Subsequently, the carcasses of four goats and a pig were found at the location along with 13 live goats.
People whose animals have been stolen in and around the area are being asked to make contact with the Savanna-la-mar Criminal Investigation Branch or call the Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit at 311 with any information.
