D-Medz kicks off school tour
Singjay D-Medz kicked off his Don’t Follow Bad Company school tour recently with stops in his native Clarendon and neighbouring Manchester.
The artiste, who has been doing motivational performances in schools across Jamaica for the last three years, says he is “trying to be a role model an’ play my part” in bringing positive messages to the country’s youth.
The opening show was at Porus High School, his alma mater, on February 24. On March 7 he was at Mineral Heights Primary in Clarendon.
He also did shows at Porus Primary, another of his former schools. He was accompanied by other artistes, including Kashu Man, Mikke Ras, Third Gear, Mighty One, Dezi Boyd, and Kozmik Consciousness.
D-Medz (real name Dwayne Adams) said violence in schools influenced his decision to stage another tour. Peer pressure among teens is also the theme of Nuh Falla, a song from his recent EP From A Boy To A Man.
It is his second EP. The first, Empower, was released in late 2015.
D-Medz is scheduled to perform on two shows in Toronto, Canada, next week.
