Dialysis centre to be opened in MoBay
MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica — An international dialysis service will be coming to Montego Bay on Thursday, February 2. Named the Zierlich Dialysis Centre, it will be located in the GWEST Medical Complex.
The company is led by second generation members of the Jamaican Diaspora, Dainty Powell and Andre Nelson, and works in partnership with other medical service providers at their GWEST location.
According to a Zierlich statement, “Our aim is to be the best in class dialysis provider in the Caribbean giving a truly international service for both the local and transient patients, with a key focus on promoting health and tourism in the Caribbean. Local focus will be hosting regular health awareness workshops and fairs to educate the general public on the prevention of chronic kidney disease, ongoing support for existing patients living with this condition, and providing a proactive pre-screening service for early detection.”
The company will be partnering with JAMPRO which they encountered during the London 2012 Olympics, at JAMPRO’s Diaspora Investment Seminar at Jamaica House in London.
Nelson and Powell, who attended the event, expressed their desire to establish a dialysis treatment facility in Jamaica and since then have worked with the agency to establish this service.
Attorney General and Member of Parliament for St James West Central, Marlene Malahoo-Forte, will be in attendance at the launch.
