ST JAMES, Jamaica — A gift of US$25,000 was presented to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay today by the president of Links Incorporated, an American-based friendship and service organisation of professional African-American women who support health and education.
The hospital in a news release disclosed that the money was presented to them by noted US medical doctor and president of Links Incorporated, Dr Glenda Newell-Harris during a visit to explore areas in which the organization may partner with the hospital’s health services.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of CRH, head of paediatrics, Dr Carlene Grant-Davis said the money would be used to refurbish the hospital chapel after which it will be renamed the Dr Glenda Newell-Harris Chapel.
The hospital says Links Inc has promised further assistance to the Chapel and to explore areas of need at the hospital that it may be able to assist with in various ways.
A group of over 120 members of Links Inc are carrying out voluntary service at various locations in Westmoreland, Hanover and St James over the next three days.
