Inmate on fraud rap commits similar offences from prison
KINGSTON, Jamaica — An inmate in one the island’s correctional facility on Tuesday pleaded guilty to six counts of attempting to obtain money by means of false pretence when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
According to the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA), Andrew Lee Pryce, who is currently serving a sentence for similar offences, was charged on January 5 for breaches of the Forgery Act.
These charges resulted from an ongoing investigation that led to the arrest and charge of correctional officer Toraine Tulloch in December 2016, for his alleged involvement in a fraud scheme being operated from inside the correctional facility.
It is alleged that Pryce, who the lawmen believe is the mastermind, conspired with the correctional officer who then posed as a policeman and entertainment producer and fleeced large sums of money from a number of people.
Pryce is scheduled to return to court on Monday, January 30 in relation to other charges connected to the conspiracy.
