Shenseea plans to Rock The Floor
FAST-RISING singjay Shenseea is planning to advance her career with the release of Rock The Floor in lat e January. It features dancer-cum-deejay Ding Dong.
The 20-year-old describes Rock the Floor as a new track with an old-school flavour.
“The song is about a female admiring a male and wondering where he gets the energy to dance like that,” she told
Splash.
She said the track was originally done by Ding Dong. However, their manager Romeich Major from Romeich Entertainment wanted a female voice on the single to sing the chorus.
“Ding Dong is a part of Romiech Entertainment… It (the collab) was not a planned thing, he just decided to use me,” she said.
Asked if she doesn’t feel like she’s being pigeonholed into a collab act, she said this is not the case.
“I have many singles. They just haven’t been released as yet,” she said.
Shenseea got mainstream attention last year with track Loodi, featuring Vybz Kartel. Released in October of last year, it made the playlist of every disc jock on the radio and in the clubs. She said the collaboration has been a career booster.
“My manager (Romeich Major) and Ellis from So Unique had the song. They came up with the idea to get me on the track,” Shenseea said. “This collaboration has boost my career and make people know about me. I am also getting several gigs since it was released.”
Loodi was produced by So Unique Records.
Shenseea (given name Chinsea Lee) is a former student of Mona High and Excelsior Community College, where she studied tourism, hospitality and entertainment management. She said she got her break in August 2016 with the release of Jiggle Jiggle. She has subsequently released Shake Em Off.
