I Am Bolt gets Jamaican run
OLYMPIAN Usain Bolt conquered track and field by being the fastest man alive. The track star is now lending his talent to the big screen with the release of the documentary called I Am Bolt.
Produced by British brothers Gabe and Benjamin Turner, I Am Bolt had its Jamaican showing at the National Indoor Sports Centre in St Andrew on Tuesday evening. The event was hosted by telecoms giant Digicel.
The documentary premiered in London late last month.
The track star hinted he may be trading his spikes for the microphone.
“You never know, anything is possible. Right now, I am just taking things one step at a time,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to do different things and I am getting recording offers so that is going good.”
Bolt recently recorded a number called Gifted, which is doing the rounds on social media.
I Am Bolt captures the life of the nine-time Olympic gold medallist in the fast lane. It also highlights instances of his life that he felt demotivated, but still made it to the podium in Beijing, China and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Along the way, viewers also got a chance to meet his parents, Wellesley and Jennifer Bolt, his disciplined but humorous coach Glen Mills, and his best friend MJ. I Am Bolt also features American tennis star Serena Williams, sprinter Asafa Powell, reggae singer Chronixx, and Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr.
“I want the viewers to go on an emotional journey. The past two years have been challenging as I have experienced the hurt from injuries and so on. I want persons to see the good and bad things that I endured throughout my career,” Bolt said.
Bolt won the 100m, 200m and —100m relay at three consecutive Olympic Games.
