The Fashion Directory – a great place to be
The Devon House lawns were certainly a place to be last Thursday for the viewing of the runway show, the Fashion Directory. The event was held by the Jamaica Yellow Pages in partnership with the
Jamaica Observer‘s annual Take Style Out shopping event. Each year, fashion lovers can look forward to great deals and discounts courtesy of the participating stores islandwide.
Before the show
Stylish supporters were able to purchase a few of their favourite items at display booths.
The air was filled with laughter and light conversation. A diverse crowd consisting of a mixture of lifestyle, entertainment, and media professionals were seen mingling over cocktails.
During the show
The ‘Diva NikkiZ’ from Fame FM did a fabulous job with hosting the evenings’ festivities. She even brought further awareness to Breast Cancer while sporting a bring pink, fringe outfit. Upcoming artistes GiRL and Kenzic did a fine job with warming up the crowd before the designs were flaunted. The legendary Tanya Stephens certainly entertained the crowd through great storytelling, and performing a few hits from over the years. Dancehall entertainer D’Angel and YouTube sensation Quite Perry were pleasant additions to the fierce cast of models.
The most awe inspiring presentation was certainly by Mamayashi. She ensured that onlookers were stimulated both visually and aurally. Vibrant drummers introduced her models which donned earthy, eye-catching pieces which embraced our Afro-Jamaican culture. 24-year-old student of the University of the West Indies Mona, Taj Hayden shared with
teenAGE that he really had fun. He said that Mamayashi was his favourite designer, and that Kerry-Kay was classy and simple. Hayden laughed while stating, “D’Angel was my favourite model.”
