TSO Mandeville
Mandeville, Manchester — Heavy downpour ahead of last Thursday’s Takes Style Out (TSO) here did not prevent retailers in the fashion industry from opening for extended hours — slashing prices — and bargain hunters from making their way to the town.
For first-time participants, Anita Elizabeth Boutique on the Golf View Hotel property and Glitz and Fab Fashion at Lane Plaza, the event, organised by the Jamaica Observer, was good for business.
Summer James, proprietor of Anita Elizabeth Boutique, said that there was an increase in clientele visiting her store of about seventy per cent.
“It was worth it,” said Store Manager Kera Swaby on a stop at Glitz and Fab Fashion.
According to manager of Chaego Fashion, Kesha Morgan, Takes Style Out assisted with pulling customers to its new Wesley Road location.
“We started at 10am and going up until 10pm,” she told Jamaica Observer Central.
20/20 Collections at Super Plus Centre, Glambition Fragrances and Fashions at Levy’s Plaza and Sophia’s Subscription of Style Clothing Store on Manchester Road were among retailers who expressed satisfaction with the event.
For the proprietors of Lois Fashion and Accessories and Jeng Beng Boutique at Brumalia Town Centre, their participation in previous years was a better experience.
Some Mandeville retailers believe the postponement of TSO from early October to later in the month presented an opportunity for better results while others felt that it might have contributed to a less than satisfactory outcome.
Wendy Haylett, owner of La Fabulous Collection and Beauty Bar at Super Plus Centre, said with the change of date she lost momentum in engaging in the event, though already registered, and was open on the night.
